Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is an annual program focused on inspiring students to take an interest in computer science. During its run this year (December 9-15), students all over the world were invited to try computer science through an Hour of Code. This event reached 10 million students in 170 countries, exposing them to programming and development. Technology is moving rapidly forward and students need more exposure to computer science skills.
Employment in all computer occupations is expected to increase 22% by 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Find out more on how to encourage your local school to offer computer science classes, and why it’s so important to offer these adaptable skills to students at code.org.
