Women Entrepreneurs Optimistic About the Future of Their Businesses

According to the 2014 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, an annual survey commissioned by the National Association of Women Business Owners and Web.com, 89 percent of women entrepreneurs surveyed are hopeful about the future of their businesses despite the harsh winter wreaking havoc on the economy. Additionally, 92 percent of respondents predict more women will start businesses this year. But, not all of the findings were positive. Following are some of the most significant findings from the annual survey:

  • 90 percent are still concerned about the economy
  • 80 percent are worried about business taxes
  • 71 percent worry over the cost and accessibility of health insurance
  • 61 percent worry about access to business capital
  • 51 percent are concerned about fuel and energy costs

But, women entrepreneurs have plans to overcome these obstacles:

  • 69 percent said they will focus on customer service improvement
  • 62 percent have plans to invest in marketing, including online marketing vehicles like social media
  • 48 percent have plans to enhance their products and services
  • 26 percent plan to hire additional staff
